Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka secured a spot in the Atlanta Open final by defeating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Saturday night.
Nishioka, currently ranked No. 86, will face Australian Jordan Thompson, the No. 4 seed, in the final match.
Throughout the tournament, Nishioka achieved victories against American player Zachary Svajda (7-6 (4), 6-3), American Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-4), and American Frances Tiafoe, the No. 3 seed (7-6 (2), 6-2).
Rinderknech, ranked No. 64, had wins over American J.J. Wolf (6-3, 6-2), Australian Adam Walton (7-6 (4), 6-3), and Italian player Mattia Bellucci (7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-1) in earlier rounds of the tournament.
In another semi-final match at the Atlanta ATP 250 tournament held at the Atlanta Athletic Club on hard surface with a prize money of USD 756,020, Jordan Thompson defeated Juncheng Shang (Q) with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
