Sofia Kenin, the 8th seed, advanced to the second round of the Cleveland Open by defeating Katie Volynets 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 at Jacobs Pavilion on Tuesday night.
Kenin, currently ranked 55th, is set to face Clara Burel from France in the next round.
