Katie Boulter, the 9th seed, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Open by defeating Japanese lucky loser Kyoka Okamura 6-1, 6-2 at the Ariake Coliseum on Thursday night.
Boulter, currently ranked 33rd, is set to face Canadian wildcard Bianca Andreescu in the next round.
In her previous match at the Tokyo tournament, Boulter emerged victorious against Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Meanwhile, in the previous round of the Tokyo tournament, Okamura, ranked 271st, managed to beat American qualifier Hailey Baptiste with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-3.
