The US tennis team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens was filled with star players, including reigning US Open champion Andy Roddick and four-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams. They were accompanied by former world No 1 doubles star Lisa Raymond, former top 10 player Chanda Rubin, and the No 1 doubles team in the world, the Bryan Brothers. The Olympic Tennis Centre in Athens, Greece was the setting for the event, which saw 172 players compete across four events. Despite high hopes for medals, things looked bleak after Roddick and Williams were upset in singles, and the Bryan Brothers were defeated in doubles. However, Mard Fish and Taylor Dent came through, with Dent winning a bronze medal and Fish winning a silver medal in singles.
