Arantxa Rus advances to the quarter-finals of the Cleveland Open after defeating the 7th seeded Bulgarian, Viktoriya Tomova, with a score of 6-3, 6-3 at Jacobs Pavilion on Wednesday evening.
Rus, currently ranked No. 95, will go up against the winner of the match between American wildcard McCartney Kessler and the 4th seeded Chinese player, Xinyu Wang, in the next round.
In the previous round of the Cleveland tournament, the 33-year-old Dutch player emerged victorious against Lucia Bronzetti from Italy with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Tomova, ranked No. 50, defeated American wildcard Lauren Davis (6-1, 6-4) in the first round of the Cleveland tournament.
