Klay Thompson was in awe of Jordan Poole’s performance at the NBA All-Star Game.
The “golden state warriors” is a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association. The team was founded in 1946 and has won three championships so far. Klay Thompson, who plays for the golden state warriors, was asked about Jordan Poole’s recent growth. He said that he was in awe of what Jordan had achieved and that it was incredible to watch him grow as a player.
Due to Klay Thompson’s early-season absence, Jordan Poole was given the opportunity to shine in the Golden State Warriors starting lineup. Poole earned himself a spot as one of the most useful players in the Dubs’ rotation even after Thompson returned. He’s kept his claim to the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award alive.
This season, Poole has improved dramatically as a scorer and facilitator. He’s also showed versatility, transitioning from starter to bench player to a key part of Golden State’s closing lineups.
Thompson, on the other hand, is continuously awestruck when watching Poole play.
In what has been a tumultuous period after the All-Star break, the former Michigan Wolverine has consistently surpassed expectations and given the Warriors energy. Klay is still taken aback by the youngster’s improvement.

With Stephen Curry out with a foot injury and Draymond Green still working on his fitness, the Warriors have been in dire need of other players to step up and fill in the voids. It’s been a challenging task.
Between March 16 and March 30, the Dubs lost seven of their eight games. After falling down by as many as 17 points in Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz, they seemed doomed to lose their fifth consecutive game.
Thompson and Poole, on the other hand, came to the rescue.
Thompson scored 36 points on 14-of-28 shooting, including 8-of-17 from beyond the arc, after struggling to find his footing since returning in January. In the fourth quarter, he scored 12 points.
Despite shooting badly in the last two quarters, Poole’s 19 points in the first half kept the Warriors in the game, and his game-winning three-pointer with just over three minutes left gave Golden State the lead for good. With four late free throws, the combo guard kept the Dubs in lead, ending with 31 points on the night. In the second half, he also made plays left and right, throwing up five assists.
Thompson and Poole exchanged a revealing hug after the game. It conjured up images of a teacher and his student bonding on a deeper level. Klay’s postgame remarks echoed this sentiment.

Jordan Poole has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, and Klay Thompson knows that. That’s why he thinks the 22-year-maturity old’s is so admirable.
Thompson discussed his postgame hug with Poole after Golden State’s comeback victory against Utah. He said (via The Athletic) that it sprang from a feeling of gratitude.
“With Steph away, JP has a lot of work to do for us.” And I simply hugged him because I was thinking to myself, ‘I appreciate you, brother.’ It’s tiring to have to handle the ball and come off screens. I’m extremely pleased of a young guy who has embraced it like he has.”

Curry and Green haven’t simply been in and out of the lineup. Thompson has also missed back-to-back games as the Warriors tried to limit his playing time. James Wiseman, a second-year center who has yet to play a game this season, was shut down by the Dubs.
Because of the roster changes, Poole and his teammates Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody (among others) have had to adapt on the fly. Klay is blown away by Poole’s ability to rise to the occasion and grow into one of the league’s best rookie guards.
“It’s amazing to see how much he’s progressed since his rookie year.” Wow, what a fantastic player JP has developed into. And he’ll just grow better in the future. And as his veterinarian… Wow, you’ve already surpassed my expectations and will continue to do so. Because he’s one of the greatest passers I’ve seen in a long time with the ball in his hands.”

There’s a reason why the Warriors are said to be interested in signing Poole to a $80 million contract deal. His growth as a scorer and facilitator on the court has been remarkable, and he’s been nothing short of phenomenal since the All-Star break.
Poole, as Thompson said, is a key component in keeping and prolonging Golden State’s championship window open.
Is there a new “Splash Brother” in town?

Jordan Poole’s season averages of 18.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds show how far he’s progressed in his third season.
Since the All-Star break, Poole has been a revelation. He’s averaging 24.0 points per game on 64.5 percent true shooting (42.7 percent from outside the arc), 4.9 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 20 games. Although Poole’s output hasn’t always translated into victories, it’s difficult to blame him for bringing the majority of the offense and Golden State’s team defense failing in recent weeks.
In truth, the Milwaukee native seems to be Golden State’s next big thing and a solid cornerstone. Poole has developed into a premier dribble pull-up scorer capable of creating separation and making mid-range shots. He also creates rim pressure and moves effectively without the ball, shooting away from long distances off dribble handoffs and taking advantage of space provided on pindown screens.
In addition, Poole’s passing has improved noticeably. His three-level scoring and off-the-bounce shot creation challenge opponents to consider sending assistance. Poole has the vision to see shooters on the perimeter if they get pulled out of position. He’s also never in a rush.
Poole went into the lane on a back-cut during a March 30 defeat to the Phoenix Suns. Poole froze the defenders and sent the ball to an open Andrew Wiggins, who sunk a three. When he goes downhill, Poole is a willing passer as well. After Devin Booker attempted to cut off a straight-line drive during a pick-and-roll set, he fed Thompson for a three-pointer in the Suns’ defeat.
The Warriors must regain full health in order to compete in the playoffs. Thompson must develop a more consistent rhythm and address defensive difficulties in the interior.
Poole’s maturation into a third star, though, provides the Warriors a chance to make deep playoff runs this season and in the future.
