Fritz defends Exo vs Tour event comparison and addresses criticisms about schedule complaints

After a disappointing performance at Laver Cup, world No. 7 Taylor Fritz traveled to Tokyo. Following comments from Carlos Alcaraz about the packed tennis calendar, former player John Millman took to social media to discuss the issue.

Millman highlighted the challenge of reducing the tournament schedule when players opt for lucrative exhibitions during their downtime. Fritz, who had a tough exit from the ATP Tokyo 500, agreed with Millman’s perspective, emphasizing the difference in mental and physical demands between tour events and exhibitions.

Fritz explained that exhibitions are less taxing both physically and mentally compared to official tour events, and shouldn’t be equated in terms of fatigue or stress. He hoped that players, especially former tour professionals like Millman, would understand his viewpoint.

Recently, Fritz has been on the road since the North American hardcourt season, participating in various tournaments including the US Open and Laver Cup.
