The Czech player secured her spot in the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh as a Grand Slam winner this season and finishing in the Top 20 of the Race. She will face Russian Mirra Andreeva in the next round, with Andreeva leading the head-to-head record 2-1.
Ma, ranked No. 261, secured her first WTA Tour main draw win by defeating qualifier Xiaodi You (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
