Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 7 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Ningbo Open with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Chinese Yue Yuan at the Yinzhou Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
Ranked No 12, Kalinskaya is set to face the winner of the match between Karolina Muchova and Romanian lucky loser Jaqueline Cristian in the next round.
Prior to her win, the Russian defeated Australian lucky loser Priscilla Hon in a tough match (3-6, 6-3, 6-4).
Yue Yuan, ranked No 46, had previously defeated Australian qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic (6-4, 6-2) in the earlier rounds of the Ningbo tournament.
