Daria Kasatkina, who stands at 1.70 m (5 ft 7 in), was born on May 7, 1997. She started playing tennis at the age of six, introduced to the sport by her brother Alexsandr. Coming from a family of athletes, with her mother nationally ranked in athletics and father in ice hockey, Kasatkina had an early start in sports. She excelled as a junior, winning the 2014 Roland-Garros girls singles title and reaching No 3 in the rankings. Kasatkina’s highest ranking in her career has been No 8, achieved in August 2022. She has earned over $12.3 million in prize money and won eight WTA singles titles and one doubles title. Kasatkina reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros 2022 and made quarter-finals appearances at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon in 2018. The Russian tennis player is openly bisexual and currently in a relationship with ice skater Natalia Zabiiako. Kasatkina enjoys vlogging and sharing her life off the court with her fans. She has had different coaches throughout her career, most recently working with Flavio Cipolla. Kasatkina looks up to Rafael Nadal as her idol and is active on social media with a strong following. She expressed her concerns about the Russia-Ukraine war, calling it a “full-blown nightmare” and commending the LTA for supporting Ukrainian players during the grass-court swing.
