Australian Alex De Minaur, the second seed, narrowly defeated qualifier Jakub Mensik 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Vienna Open at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday evening. De Minaur, who is ranked No. 10, will now face Russian Karen Khachanov in the next round.
In earlier matches, De Minaur secured victories against Jan-Lennard Struff (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) and Flavio Cobolli (7-6 (2), 3-1 ret.) in the Vienna tournament. Mensik, ranked No. 51, defeated Alexei Popyrin (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Miomir Kecmanovic (6-3, 7-6 (7)) in prior rounds.
