Frenchman Benoit Paire narrowly defeated American Zachary Svajda 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport. Paire, currently ranked No. 227, will face second seed Marcos Giron in the next round.
