French qualifier Quentin Halys advanced to the semi-finals of the Swiss Open after defeating Brazilian qualifier Gustavo Heide 6-1, 7-5 at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Friday night.
Halys, who is ranked No 192, will now face the winner of the match between German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 5 seed, and Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 4 seed.
In earlier rounds of the Gstaad tournament, Halys beat Richard Gasquet (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)) and Lukas Klein (6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-4).
Meanwhile, Heide, ranked No 178, defeated Italian Stefano Napolitano (7-6 (4), 5-7, 7-6 (3)) and Ugo Humbert (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3) in previous matches.
