Facundo Diaz Acosta from Argentina advanced to the semi-finals of the Generali Open by defeating Pedro Martinez from Spain, the No. 4 seed, with a score of 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4 at Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Thursday.
Acosta, who is ranked No. 77, will face the winner of the match between Sebastian Baez from Argentina, the top seed, and Hugo Gaston from France in the next round.
Prior to his victory, the Argentinian also won against Federico Coria (2-6, 6-3, 6-0) and Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan (6-2, 4-6, 6-3).
In the previous round of the Kitzbuhel tournament, Martinez, ranked No. 45, defeated Indian Sumit Nagal with a score of 7-5, 7-5.
