To get a good understanding of the situation, it’s important to know that Ronaldo has two main agents: Jorge Mendes and Simon de Quieroz. The former runs Ronaldo’s affairs for him, while the latter is a consultant for Mendes; they represent a large number of top players in the world, and are instrumental in the transfer market. The Ronaldo-Juventus situation has been a tense one: after four years at the Juventus, Ronaldo returned to United and signed a new £300,000-a-week, four-year deal in the summer of 2018.

It’s been five years since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford for the Bernabeu in a world record £80m move after nine seasons with the Red Devils. After everything he’d achieved, it was hard to believe that Ronaldo would leave but that’s exactly what happened. The Madrid outfit also offered him bonuses of £30m each year, which he couldn’t turn down.

Adam Pacman Jones was a cornerback in the NFL for 12 years. He was a member of the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals, among others. Jones spent the most of his career in the latter. His career was a roller coaster, yet he remained resolute in the face of adversity. Shannon Sharpe, a Hall of Famer, talked with the Atlanta, Georgia native about his career. He also singled out the Pittsburgh Steelers, his least favorite NFL club.

To some degree, Pacman Jones supports Vontaze Burfict.

The name Vontaze Burfict is a household name in the NFL, and for the wrong reasons. Burfict spent eight seasons in the NFL, split between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Oakland Raiders. Throughout his career, he tended to attract trouble. For breaking the league’s performance-enhancing drug rules and for illegal hits on rival players, the former Arizona State standout was banned several times.

Burfict is one of the players blamed for the NFL’s recent crackdown on helmet-to-helmet contact and targeting. The league has made it a top priority to safeguard the players’ health as much as possible. When Burfict was on the field, he appeared to have little concern for the safety of his teammates. He has been out of the league since 2019, after a four-game stint with the Raiders.

Jones was a six-year teammate of Burfict in Cincinnati. On Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the former All-Pro cornerback tried to defend Burfict.

Jones claimed he “liked” playing on the same defense as Burfict without hesitation. Sharpe chastised the former linebacker for his shady behavior. The West Virginia product was a big no-no. He replied, “I can’t let you sit here and claim everything was filthy.” “Outside noise made up 90% of it.”

Jones did admit that Burfict engaged in some unethical behavior throughout his career. However, he believes that the violations were exaggerated in most cases. The ex-Pro Bowler said he told his buddy many times that if he didn’t stop, the NFL would punish him. Pacman praised the linebacker for attempting, but he obviously did not go all out.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been dubbed the NFL’s dirtiest team by Pacman Jones.

During Burfict’s time with the Bengals, Pacman Jones noticed a pattern in the personal foul penalties he was receiving. He then went on to make a fascinating remark. He says that the bulk of the penalties were called against the Pittsburgh Steelers during games.

Jones screamed, firmly, “They motherf—— the dirtiest team in the league.” One of the guys that stuck out to him as filthy was veteran Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey. Ironically, he considers Pittsburgh the dirtiest team in the league while defending his buddy, who is now effectively banned from the league.

Sharpe mentioned Burfict’s notorious hit on Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. During the 2015 NFL playoffs, the hit happened. As Brown ran a slant route, an uncatchable ball from Ben Roethlisberger soared over his head. Burfict dashed at Brown, dropped his shoulder, and slammed his shoulder into the wideout’s helmet.

AB was vulnerable at that moment, and the defender committed an unwarranted hit. He didn’t even try to catch the football. Brown was OK, according to Adam Jones, who minimized the hit. “Man, that AB guy grinned at us. “You guys are insane,” he said.

The NFL’s rule book has undergone major revisions.

The game is now officiated in a far different way than it was in the 1990s and early 2000s. Physicality was the word of the game, and players were allowed to get away with blows that would not be tolerated in today’s league.

In 2018, the league enacted tougher regulations, emphasizing the need of players lowering their heads when tackling. The regulation was created to aid attacking players while still protecting defensive players.

Football is a physically demanding sport by nature, but the NFL has made an effort to reduce the number of needless hits. Injuries to the head, neck, and spine are severe. The rulebook is not without faults, but the concept on which it is based is sound.

NFL players, like Vontaze Burfict, must follow the rules or risk having their careers cut short.
