German Alexander Zverev, seeded No. 4, advanced to the fourth round of the US Open after defeating Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Saturday night.
Zverev, who is ranked No. 4, is set to face American Brandon Nakashima in the next round.
The German previously defeated lucky loser Maximilian Marterer (6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2) and French wildcard Alexandre Muller (6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-1) in the tournament.
In earlier rounds of the US Open, Etcheverry, ranked No. 33, defeated Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (6-4, 6-2, 6-3) and No. 29 seed Francisco Cerundolo (6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3).
