David Goffin, a Belgian player, secured a spot in the second round of the Atlanta Open by defeating Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Monday evening.
Goffin, currently ranked 98th, will await the winner of the match between Christopher O’Connell and 8th seed Max Purcell.
