Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the 5th seed from Spain, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Atlanta Open by defeating American Reilly Opelka 7-5, 7-5 at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Thursday evening.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked 43rd, will now face the 4th seed, Australian Jordan Thompson, in the next round.
In the previous round of the Atlanta Open, the Spaniard won against Frenchman Arthur Cazaux (6-2, 7-6 (4)).
Opelka, ranked 430th, beat Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the first round of the Atlanta Open.
