Yannick Hanfmann from Germany defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild from Brazil with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Generali Open at Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Thursday.
Ranked No. 116, Hanfmann will face the winner of the match between American wildcard Nicolas Moreno De Alboran and Italian Matteo Berrettini in the next round.
Prior to his latest victory, the German had defeated Jaume Munar from Spain (6-3, 6-4) and Gustavo Heide, a lucky loser from Brazil (6-3, 1-6, 6-2).
In earlier matches of the tournament, Seyboth Wild, ranked No. 72, had emerged victorious against Austrian wildcard Joel Josef Schwaerzler (6-2, 7-6 (6)) and Serb Laslo Djere, the No. 8 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
