Argentine Solana Sierra emerged victorious against qualifier En-Shuo Liang with a score of 6-4, 6-2, securing her spot in the quarter-finals of the Barranquilla Open on Wednesday. Sierra, currently ranked No 165, is set to face the winner of the match between American Varvara Lepchenko and Croat Antonia Ruzic in the next round.
The 20-year-old Argentinian had previously defeated Su Jeong Jang (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) before her latest triumph. In the previous round, Liang, ranked No 291, had triumphed over Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 3 seed, with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
