Brandin Cooks Ruthlessly Blasting the Texans for Trading Mark Ingram Should Be a Precursor to His Looming Departure

With the departure of Jamaal Williams, this means that Cooks has no competition for his spot on the depth chart. Should he stay or should he go?

The “brandin cooks fantasy” is a topic that has been discussed quite a bit recently. The New England Patriots traded running back Mark Ingram to the Philadelphia Eagles for a second-round pick. Brandin Cooks, who was Ingram’s teammate in New Orleans, took to Twitter and said that he was “devastated.” He then went on to say that he was going to show the Texans what it means to be ruthless.

This season, the Houston Texans are hoping to tank. Anyone who has been following their organization over the last year or more will not be surprised by this. With DeAndre Hopkins traded away, J.J. Watt released, and quarterback Deshaun Watson’s legal predicament, this is not a squad that will be winning football games anytime soon.

This summer, they appointed a new general manager and head coach, and they look committed to pursuing the No. 1 overall choice in the 2021 NFL Draft. They face stiff competition from the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, among others. By the conclusion of the season, though, the Texans are likely to be a contender for the top overall pick.

Mark Ingram, a running back with the Houston Texans, has been traded to the New Orleans Saints.

Trade! Sources tell me and @RapSheet that the #Texans are moving veteran RB Mark Ingram to the #Saints. Ingram had a reunion in New Orleans, where he began his career.

The Texans’ tanking strategy continues with the trade of veteran running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints. Ingram started his career with the Saints, where he spent many fruitful years. Now he’ll team up with Alvin Kamara in the backfield for the New Orleans Saints, forming a devastating one-two punch.

This was a simple choice for the Texans to make. They signed Ingram to a one-year contract this summer, presumably because he wasn’t seen as a long-term building component in any manner. Midway through the regular season, the Texans were able to trade him for a draft selection, which is a good result for them as they strive to increase their draft capital.

The Texans don’t need a veteran like Ingram on the roster right now, especially with their record of 1-6. In the backfield, they still have David Johnson and Philip Lindsay to depend on.

Despite the fact that this was a rather straightforward choice for Houston, it nonetheless enraged several members of the team’s locker room. Brandin Cooks, probably the team’s finest all-around player, expressed his displeasure with the move on Twitter.

Brandin Cooks is fed up with the Texans’ tanking strategy.

Brandin Cooks is a leader in the locker room and the sort of guy Houston wants to develop around.

Cooks is clearly displeased with the Texans’ decision to release one of his teammates.

Cooks, who is just 28 years old and has five 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, is one of the Texans’ final surviving top players. Cooks is the Texans’ lone salvageable quality, apart from left tackle Laremy Tunsil and the aforementioned Watson (who will most likely never play for Houston again).

Due to playing behind more great receivers the last several seasons, he has gone unnoticed. Cooks, on the other hand, is all you could want as a WR1. In 2017, he played a key part in the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl 52 victory.

While Cooks’ post was most likely alluding to his dissatisfaction with Houston’s constant trades of his friends and teammates, he also seemed to be expressing jealousy. Cooks started his career in New Orleans as well, and he would have enjoyed a return to the city. Cooks, at this point, would very certainly welcome a trade to anyplace. Like his previous colleagues, he wants to get away from the tanking Texans.

Are there any chefs on the move?

For opposition general managers, Cooks openly expressing his dissatisfaction online is a glaring, neon indication.

His worth should be at an all-time low after his Twitter remarks, and he would make a huge impact on a contender in need of a wide receiver. As the trade deadline approaches, a slew of clubs will come calling for him.

Will the Houston Texans trade their current No. 1 wide receiver? Only time will tell whether this is true. Let’s hope they do, for the sake of Cooks. He is deserving of another chance in the playoffs.
