In the China Open at the National Tennis Center in Beijing, Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova pulled off a surprise victory against the No 22 seed, Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova. Sramkova won 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the third round where she will face No 15 seed Spaniard Paula Badosa.
Prior to her win, Sramkova defeated Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
