Colin Kaepernick is still out there, according to former San Francisco 49ers teammate Eric Reid. He’s “wired that way.”

Colin Kaepernick is likely still on the field somewhere right now working on his game, according to his former 49ers teammate. He’s wired that way.

Colin Kaepernick is yet to be signed to an NFL team for the fifth season. Despite the fact that the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback had a lot of success in the NFL, no club has been ready to give him a chance since he decided to kneel during the national anthem before games to protest racial inequity and social injustices.

Would Kaepernick still be able to find success on the field if given the chance? Vernon Davis, a former 49ers teammate, recently talked with Sportscasting and shared his views.

On the 49ers, Vernon Davis and Colin Kaepernick were teammates.

By the time Colin Kaepernick joined the 49ers as a rookie in 2011, Vernon Davis had already completed his sixth NFL season.

In his first year, Kaepernick didn’t play much, but in 2012, he played in 13 games and started seven of them. That season, the Nevada product passed for 1,814 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions while also rushing for 415 yards and five touchdowns. However, in the playoffs that year, he elevated his game to another level, passing for 798 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions while leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

In the big game, the 49ers were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens (despite Kaepernick throwing for over 300 yards). After passing for 3,197 yards, 21 touchdowns, and eight interceptions during the 2013 season, he led them back to the NFC Championship Game the following season.

So, how was it playing with Kaepernick during that stretch?

Davis told Sportscasting about his latest film projects and stated, “Colin Kaepernick was a wonderful colleague.” With Kaepernick as starting quarterback in 2013, Davis won one of his two career Pro Bowl selections. “He was a visionary and a natural leader. Colin came up after Alex Smith — I believe Alex Smith had a concussion at the time — and I remember him taking over that role. He demonstrated to the rest of the world that he could play at a high level, and he simply kept doing it.”

“As far as being a wonderful locker room person, a good teammate, he was that,” Davis said. And now he’s being acknowledged for all he’s done to make a positive impact in the world.”

Vernon Davis believes that his former 49ers quarterback is still improving.

Kaepernick last appeared in a game in 2016, the same year he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest social inequality and institutional racism. He has subsequently established himself as a prominent campaigner and is now recognized for much more than his football accomplishments.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t played in four seasons, Davis believes he would be ready to play if given the chance.

Davis told Sportscasting, “I believe Colin Kaepernick could absolutely come back and be a great quarterback.” “If I had to guess, he’s probably working on his game on the field right now. He’s one of those people who is always prepared; it’s in his nature. Even if he doesn’t believe he’ll have a chance, he’ll be prepared.”

Davis obviously has no way of knowing if Kaepernick is on the field or not. Is he, however, certain that his former Niners quarterback would be able to play at a high level if signed by a team?

Davis said, “It wouldn’t surprise me if he went out and had a crazy year given the chance.”

Colin Kaepernick’s statistics in the NFL speak for themselves.

Colin Kaepernick has shown to be a rare talent throughout his NFL career, in addition to guiding the 49ers to two NFC Championship Games. In 69 games and 58 starts, he passed for 12,271 yards and 72 touchdowns while only throwing 30 interceptions. In 2014, Kaepernick rushed for 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns, including a career-high 639 yards.

In 12 games and 11 starts during his last season in 2016, the second-round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft passed for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed for 468 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Given that Kaepernick hasn’t played since the 2016 season, it’s difficult to tell how successful he’d be. However, he shown during his career that he has the arm power to make required passes and the agility to utilize his feet when necessary, two qualities that NFL clubs spend years searching for in a quarterback.

There’s a possibility Kaepernick may never play again, but if he does, you can bet he’ll be ready to play for whichever club he’s on.
