Serbian Olga Danilovic advanced to the final of the Guangzhou Open after top seed Katerina Siniakova retired at the Nansha International Tennis Center on Saturday. Danilovic, ranked No 86, was leading 4-6, 6-4, 4-3 when Siniakova, ranked No 48, withdrew from the match.
Danilovic will face the winner of the match between Italian Lucia Bronzetti and American qualifier Caroline Dolehide in the final.
Olga Danilovic defeated Russian Erika Andreeva (6-4, 6-4), Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-0), and Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew (6-4, 6-4) in the earlier rounds of the Guangzhou tournament.
In the previous matches, Katerina Siniakova won against Croat qualifier Petra Martic (6-2, 6-1), American lucky loser Alycia Parks (6-1, 6-4), and American Bernarda Pera (6-4, 7-5).
