DeMar DeRozan Keeps Making NBA Executives and Scouts Look Utterly Foolish With Latest Act of Heroism for the Bulls

DeMar DeRozan, the Toronto Raptors’ all-star guard and 2018 NBA All Star selection has been a great player for his team every time he steps on the court. In addition to being a top scorer in this year’s playoffs with 36 points per game, The FlyBoy also scored two of the most important baskets of Game 1 against Boston Celtics leading up to an overtime victory. This is not a story about any one play but it does highlight how much more involved players are getting when they feel safe enough to move into their zone as opposed to just trying not be open or dribble around too many screens. Raps fans were ecstatic after seeing DeMar flying through air like Kevin Durant during 2012 dunk contest while tossing off tomahawks from downtown before landing back down without injury.,

The latest Chicago Bulls news today is that DeMar DeRozan has made NBA executives and scouts look utterly foolish with his latest act of heroism for the Bulls. Read more in detail here: latest chicago bulls news today.

The Chicago Bulls are 6-1 to begin the 2021-22 season, due in part to a player that league insiders believe was overpaid this summer. DeMar DeRozan has scored 30 points or more in each of the team’s previous two games, including 37 points in a thrilling comeback victory against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Despite NBA officials naming him the worst summer addition, his impressive early performance dispels any doubts about his effect.

The acquisition of DeMar DeRozan by the Bulls was named the worst offseason move by NBA executives and scouts in 2021.

This summer, the Chicago Bulls were more proactive in their efforts to construct a contender and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Lonzo Ball was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in a sign-and-trade deal, while Chicago signed former Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso in free agency. The Bulls made the greatest splash, though, when they negotiated another sign-and-trade to bring DeMar DeRozan to Chicago on a three-year, $82 million contract.

Along with Zach LaVine, DeRozan seemed to provide the Bulls another wing scorer. During his three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, he established himself as a capable facilitator, posting a career-high 6.9 assists in 2020-21. His ability to get to the free-throw line was also expected to make an instant effect for a Chicago club that finished lowest in the NBA in free-throw attempts last season.

Despite this, NBA sources questioned the decision.

According to an ESPN survey of league scouts and executives, the DeRozan deal was the worst single summer decision. The contract of DeRozan proved to be a stumbling point for many. Chicago’s willingness to trade with a first-round pick, according to a Western Conference scout, also influenced the decision.

It’s simple to put DeRozan’s performance in a blender. He’s a midrange scorer in an age where perimeter shooting is favored. Is a 32-year-old shooting guard with a restricted three-point range worth more than $27 million per year plus a first-round pick?

So far, DeRozan has shown that he’s more than worth it.

So far, DeRozan has been Chicago’s top offensive player.

DeMar DeRozan’s shot creativity and midrange power have been exactly what the Bulls have needed to start the season.

DeRozan gives Chicago’s offense a another dimension. Zach LaVine is no longer required to create anything off the dribble or off screens. Instead, in late-clock scenarios, the Bulls may turn to DeRozan, knowing he can go to the basket or generate separation for a shot.

With his new squad, the four-time All-Star seems at ease. DeRozan is averaging 25.6 points per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. His desire to get to the free-throw line is rubbing off on his teammates, as the Bulls are now ranked ninth in the league in this metric after seven games. DeRozan, in particular, is 7-of-17 from outside the arc.

Those figures are stunning, but they only convey part of the tale. DeRozan has an influence on the outcome. He had a game-high 32 points in a victory against the Utah Jazz on Oct. 30 before leading the Bulls to a dramatic comeback win in Boston on Monday, scoring 37 points (including 10 in the fourth quarter).

It seems that the all-knowing executive scouts got this one wrong, to put it lightly.

The Bulls seem to be the genuine deal.

With a marquee win over the Jazz, Chicago sent a statement, and the Bulls’ stunning win against the Celtics on Monday only served to reinforce that they are a playoff-caliber club.

To complement LaVine, DeRozan provides the Bulls with a high-end scoring and playmaking option. Nikola Vucevic’s scoring efficiency is lacking, but he is a master at finding the open man out of the post and creating opportunities for his teammates. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball is shooting well from the outside, and even if his shooting stats have declined, LaVine is still averaging over 25 points per game.

The defensive stats might be a little misleading. Chicago has the best defensive rating in the league, and Caruso’s instincts and communication abilities are invaluable to the team’s defense. The Bulls, on the other hand, may be a sieve when it comes to pick-and-roll defense, with opponents focusing on Vucevic early on.

Despite this, there’s little question that Chicago can make a postseason run. As he continues to show naysayers wrong, DeRozan’s early-season rampage emphasizes the Bulls’ running.
