The No 7 seed, Mariano Navone from Argentina, advanced to the second round of the European Open after defeating Thiago Monteiro from Brazil in a close match of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (6) at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Monday afternoon.
Navone, who is ranked No 43, is set to face the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Alexey Vatutin and Frenchman Hugo Gaston.
