Jordan Spieth has been criticized for not playing as hard during his final round of the PGA Championship. The criticism comes after a bizarre finish where he was caught on camera yawning and stretching before taking a swing.
The how much did michael jordan practice everyday is a question that arose in the NBA with the release of Jordan’s new book.
Charles Barkley has a history of being prone to exaggeration. He was certain in his belief that Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors could win an NBA championship with a spacing and 3-point shooting system, for example. Chuck, on the other hand, has played with some of the best NBA players of all time, including Michael Jordan, so he knows a thing or two about the game. At one point, Barkley said that Russell Westbrook, LeBron James’ new point guard, works harder than Michael Jordan ever did.
Russ has always been a downhill player who likes to attack. His athleticism gives him the appearance of being fired out of a cannon.
As players, there is no comparison between Westbrook and Jordan. However, there is a link between the amount of work and energy that each player puts out (or expends, in Jordan’s case) on the basketball court.

Although the former UCLA Bruin has faults in his game, one of them being a lack of effort. Westbrook has played with an intensity reminiscent of His Airness since his days as a rookie with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a metric for calculating energy and effort. In this instance, the eye test is used, and the nine-time all-star easily passes it.
However, a quick review of the two-time scoring champion’s career numbers may assist at least a little. During his first 13 years in the NBA, Westbrook averaged 23.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game. He’s averaged 34.7 minutes per game and has appeared in over 80 games over seven seasons.
Westbrook has been accused of stat-stuffing, but averaging a triple-double for three seasons in a row — and four in a row in the last five — takes a lot of work.
Still, it doesn’t capture the all-out passion with which the 32-year-old has played in the NBA. Barkley, on the other hand, sees the masterpiece.
Westbrook, according to Charles Barkley, works harder than Michael Jordan.
The Round Mound of Rebound made his NBA debut the same year as Michael Jordan. Barkley and Jordan developed a rivalry that culminated in a 1993 NBA Finals game between Barkley’s Phoenix Suns and Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.
Throughout their careers, they were rivals at times but allies at others. In the 1992 Olympics, Sir Charles and Jordan were both members of the famous Dream Team, which helped the United States win a gold medal. Every day that summer, the two trained against one other.
Mike’s renowned passion on the court is well-known to Barkley. On the golf field, too. And then there’s the casino.
Nonetheless, The Chuckster said on The Dan Patrick Show that Westbrook outperforms Jordan in terms of effort.
“I’ve never seen a player put in as much effort every night as he does….” Even Jordan couldn’t compete with Russell Westbrook’s intensity, and Michael is the best of all time. But every every play, every single night, this man gives his all. That’s something you’ve got to respect.”
Russell Westbrook vs. Charles Barkley
Westbrook is now in Los Angeles, where he is attempting to assist LeBron James in earning his sixth championship ring.
Along with Kevin Durant and James Harden, the 2016-17 NBA MVP started his career in Oklahoma City. Prior to the 2019-20 season, he was traded to Houston having spent the previous year in Washington.
Westbrook, who is now back in Los Angeles and playing alongside James and Anthony Davis, is aiming for his first NBA championship. As the Lakers seek to win their second title in three seasons, James and the Lakers are relying on his trademark effort and intensity to give a boost.
If LA adds another banner to the rafters of the Staples Center, it’ll almost certainly be because to Russ’s epic effort, which Barkley claims exceeds Jordan’s.
“There’s something wrong with you if you don’t appreciate and adore Russell Westbrook,” Barkley bluntly said.
