Andrey Rublev had a successful run at the 2024 National Bank Open in Montreal, reaching his sixth Masters 1000 final. He defeated world No 1 Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals and Matteo Arnaldi in the semifinals to advance to the final. However, he lost to Alexei Popyrin in the final, who claimed his first Masters 1000 title in 21 years for an Australian player. Despite the loss, Rublev expressed pride in his achievements during the tournament, particularly his ability to remain calm on the court after working on the emotional aspect of his game.
At the Roland-Garros in 2024, Rublev lost in the third round to Matteo Arnaldi, where his behavior on-court, including smashing racquets and striking them into his legs, drew attention. Rublev later admitted that it was the worst he had ever behaved on court.
Rublev also had success at the 2024 Madrid Open, where he won the tournament despite battling illness. He defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in a comeback victory in the final, marking his sixth Masters 1000 final and his first at the Madrid Open.
In March 2024, Rublev was defaulted in the semi-final of the Dubai Open after ranting at an official following a line call. He later won an appeal against the removal of his ranking points and prize money, but struggled for form in subsequent matches.
Rublev has qualified for the ATP Finals in the past four years, with varying degrees of success. He has also won the Davis Cup in 2021 alongside Daniil Medvedev.
The Russian player has participated in UTS events, winning the title in Frankfurt in 2023 and Oslo in 2024. Rublev also launched his own clothing line called ‘Rublo’ in December 2023.
