Hugo Gaston, a Frenchman, advanced to the semi-finals of the Generali Open by defeating the top seed, Sebastian Baez from Argentina, in a tight match with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (6) at the Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Thursday evening.
Gaston, who is currently ranked No. 91, will now face Facundo Diaz Acosta from Argentina in the next round.
Earlier in the tournament, Gaston also won against German Daniel Altmaier (6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4) and Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No. 7 seed (6-2, 7-6 (5)).
Baez, ranked No. 18, defeated Thiago Agustin Tirante (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Kitzbuhel tournament.
