Frenchman Hugo Gaston pulled off an impressive victory over Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No. 7 seed, with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (5) to advance to the quarterfinals of the Generali Open at the Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Wednesday evening.
Ranked No. 91, Gaston will now face the top seed Sebastian Baez in the next round. Prior to this win, the Frenchman narrowly defeated German Daniel Altmaier with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4.
In the previous round of the Kitzbuhel tournament, Carballes Baena, ranked No. 51, emerged victorious over Hungarian Marton Fucsovics with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
