Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus defeated Maria Timofeeva from Russia with a score of 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Hungarian Open at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Wednesday evening.
Currently ranked No. 134, Sasnovich will face either Suzan Lamens from the Netherlands or French qualifier Carole Monnet in the next round.
Sasnovich managed to come back from a set down to beat the second-seeded Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova with a score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the match prior to this victory.
In the previous round of the Budapest tournament, Timofeeva, ranked No. 103, defeated Swiss qualifier Simona Waltert with a score of 7-5, 7-6 (3).
