Khachanov Defeats Zhukayev at Tennis ATP Almaty Open 2024

Russian Karen Khachanov, seeded No. 3, secured a victory against Kazakh wildcard Beibit Zhukayev with a score of 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Almaty Open at Almaty Arena on Friday afternoon. Khachanov, currently ranked No. 26, is set to face Australian Aleksandar Vukic in the next round. Khachanov had previously defeated Otto Virtanen (7-6 (2), 7-6 (3)) before his latest win. In earlier rounds of the tournament, Zhukayev, ranked No. 213, emerged victorious against Lebanese qualifier Benjamin Hassan (6-4, 6-1) and No. 5 seed Tomas Machac (3-1 ret.). Other quarter-final results from the Almaty ATP 250 at Almaty Arena included Aleksandar Vukic’s win over Frances Tiafoe (1) with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (11), Francisco Cerundolo (4) defeating Alexander Shevchenko with a score of 6-2, 6-3, and Gabriel Diallo beating Alejandro Tabilo (2) with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
