Russian player Karen Khachanov advanced to the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open after a hard-fought victory over American Brandon Nakashima, with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Wiener Stadthalle on Thursday night.
Currently ranked 24th in the world, Khachanov is set to face Italian player Matteo Berrettini in the next round.
Prior to this match, Khachanov defeated Brazilian qualifier Thiago Seyboth Wild with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
In the previous round of the Vienna tournament, Nakashima, ranked 38th, defeated the 4th seed Tommy Paul with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
