In the Prague Open at the Sparta Prague Tennis Club on Tuesday, wildcard Laura Samson pulled off an impressive victory over second seed Katerina Siniakova, winning 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 to secure a spot in the quarter-finals. Up next, she will face Russian qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva. In the previous round, Samson defeated Croat qualifier Tara Wurth with a score of 6-0, 6-2. Siniakova, ranked No 38, had a tough battle in the first round against American qualifier Louisa Chirico, ultimately winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Other second-round results at the Prague WTA 250 tournament included matches between Linda Noskova and Eva Lys, Ena Shibahara and Ella Seidel, Viktoriya Tomova defeating Jana Fett 6-3, 6-4, Magdalena Frech beating Dominika Salkova 6-4, 6-7 (4), 2-2 ret., Oksana Selekhmeteva’s victory over Kathinka von Deichmann 6-1, 6-2, Anhelina Kalinina’s win against Elsa Jacquemot 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, and Magda Linette’s triumph over Rebeka Masarova 6-3, 6-4.
