LeBron James Continues to Prove He’s the Most Influential GM in the NBA With the Russell Westbrook Trade

With the trade of Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ front office has officially made the blockbuster deal that many have predicted for months. There were three main reasons for the deal: 1. The Cavs new acquisition of Chris Paul and a draft pick. 2. The Cavs had two key role players in Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith that they felt they couldn’t part ways with. 3. The Rockets needed help at point guard and desperately wanted to get rid of Westbrook .

On Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a 2018 first-draft pick. This trade has been a long time coming—the Cavaliers have been trying to move up in the draft for months, and their latest offer included a chance to move up to No. 1. Boston, however, was not interested in that deal, and they sent Cleveland the current pick at No. 8, as well as Thomas, Crowder, Zizic and the 2018 first-round pick.

Just a few days after the NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors are making the news for a different reason: the blockbuster trade that sent one of the league’s most polarizing players to the Houston Rockets. On the surface, the deal may seem like a win-win for both teams: the Warriors get a young, talented point guard in D’Angelo Russell, while the Rockets get a superstar in CP3 and a first-round pick. But the truth is that this deal is a win for just one team: the Houston Rockets.. Read more about russell westbrook lakers 2021 and let us know what you think.

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a blockbuster deal to bring superstar point guard Russell Westbrook back to California just before the NBA Draft got started in 2021. The Los Angeles Lakers traded Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and the 22nd overall selection in the draft to the Washington Wizards.

After a one-year break, Westbrook will reunite with LeBron James and Anthony Davis to help the Lakers return to the NBA finals.

The Westbrook trade is only the latest in a lengthy series of trades made by James’ clubs during his career. Each of the teams had general managers in theory. But who is pulling the strings in the background is a point of contention.

LeBron James, General Manager: The most recent proof

Westbrook’s trade has been in the works for a while, which is unsurprising. James had been searching for a star to join him and Davis in Los Angeles, and Westbrook has finally filled that gap. It makes perfect sense: James has previously been a member of two great trios that have helped him win NBA championships.

Injury was LA’s greatest issue last season. Not only is Westbrook a durable player who has appeared in over 80 games in seven consecutive seasons, but he’s also the playmaker the Lakers lacked last season while James was out.

But, like he has done many times during his Hall of Fame career, James planned the transaction well in advance.

How many transactions has LeBron been a part of as GM?

To be honest, there is no proof that James has made any transactions on behalf of any company. Those agreements, on the other hand, are unlikely to have occurred without his involvement. He is, without a doubt, the best player of his generation, if not all time. On and off the court, he has a great basketball mind. He’s clever enough and has earned the right to stamp his approval on anything that might impact his championship prospects.

However, there are hints that James may have had too much influence in teambuilding. There’s the obvious: LeBron is “bringing his skills to South Beach” to join bestie Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat. According to RealGM, the Heat also signed Mike Bibby, Erick Dampier, Eddie House, Juwan Howard, Mike Miller, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who was James’ Cleveland teammate. That same offseason, ten different players departed Miami. When James joined with the Heat, 18 players were shuttled in and out.

Miami added Shane Battier, Ronny Turiaf, Eddy Curry, and Norris Cole the next season.

Curry and Turiaf left the next year, while Rashard Lewis, Chris Andersen, and Ray Allen were brought in. The Heat signed free agents Michael Beasley and Greg Oden the next year, and traded for Toney Douglas. Joel Anthony and Mike Miller were ejected.

After that, LeBron returned to Cleveland, where the Cavs traded Kevin Love for two No. 1 overall selections in Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett.

Not to mention the fact that five of James’ head coaches have been dismissed throughout his tenure.

The General Manager, LeBron James: Does it make a difference?

If the #Lakers can convert a lot of valuable spare parts into Russell Westbrook, that would be incredible. KD/Harden/Kyrie have a legitimate response in LeBron/AD/Westbrook. The Big Three in Brooklyn will shoot it better, while the Big Three in Los Angeles will defend it better.

Throughout his career, James is likely to have had a large say in personnel choices. But he’s also a contender for the title of best basketball player of all time. He’s won four NBA championships thus far, with three different clubs. He has received the Most Valuable Player award four times. He has the most points among current players and is third all-time.

Does it really matter whether he’s been GM for the most of his career?
