LeBron James’s former teammate Baron Davis recently opened up about the time LeBron was caught up in a bizarre situation.
The Los Angeles Lakers are finally looking like the team they should have been all along: the best team in the league. If you look back at their record over the course of the season, you can see a pattern of dominance .With LeBron James as the team’s leader, the Lakers have been a dominant force throughout the season, holding the best record in the league, going on a 25-game win streak, finishing the regular season with the best record in the NBA, and winning the Western Conference by more than 20 games. It’s hard to imagine there was a time where this team wasn’t a championship contender.
In the aftermath of the Cavaliers’ loss to the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, LeBron James was asked about his relationship with his former team and former teammates, including J.R. Smith. James discussed Smith’s temper, which was well-documented throughout the playoffs. When LeBron James transferred from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat in the 2010-2011 season, everything changed drastically in Cleveland. The Cavs went from a championship contender to the laughing stock of the NBA.
But despite playing for a different team, James still has a close relationship with some of the guys from his old team. When James thought Daniel Booby Gibson, with whom he played in the NBA Finals, had called him out in the clubhouse, he had to confront him, Gibson said.
However, the situation was not quite as James had imagined.
With James, the Cavaliers were one of the best teams in the league. They had the best record in the NBA in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, winning 60 consecutive games each time.
But after losing the Eastern Conference finals and then the Conference semifinals, James left the Cavs in 2010 to play for the Miami Heat.
Cleveland’s organization then went downhill, eventually becoming one of the worst teams of all time.
In 2010-11, the Cavs were 19-63 and sometimes lost as many as 26 consecutive games. The boys on the team were clearly not happy with the loss, which caused tension between the players.
But these tensions eventually led Gibson to call out some of his teammates at one of the clubs.

Gibson was a fan favorite in Cleveland. As a rookie in the 2006-07 season, he scored 31 points against the Detroit Pistons in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. His play helped the Cavs reach the NBA Finals for the first time in club history.
But during that awful 2010-11 season, Gibson began to believe that some players no longer wanted to be in Cleveland, including former NBA guard Mo Williams.
I don’t even know if Moe knows about this. There were some weird, non-basketball related things, Gibson told The Athletic. There was a time this season when I went to a club one night. I walked up to the microphone and said something stupid: If people don’t want to play here, what does it matter? The people here who want to be here, we keep playing and doing our thing.
Since James just left the Cavs for the Heat, LeBron thought Gibson was talking about him. But Gibson knew how much James meant to him and his career.
Someone is writing it. I don’t know if they gave it to Rich Paul or someone else. It all goes back to Source, Gibson said. Bron thought I was talking about him. And he called me from an unknown number. I thought we were brothers. I am: Brother, listen. I, Daniel Baloney Gibson, would not exist without LeBron. I wouldn’t treat you with such disrespect. Moe was a brother, a mentor, and a man I love to this day.
Needless to say, the rest of the season did not go well for Gibson and the Cavs. But it ended much better for the city of Cleveland.
Unfortunately, Gibson was gone when the Cavs got good again. He spent his final season in the NBA in the 2012/13 season.
In 2014, however, James returned to Cleveland and made the Cavs a championship contender again. He, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love teamed up, and after losing in the 2015 NBA Finals – a series in which both Irving and Love were injured – James and the Cavs won the 2016 NBA championship.
After all, they reached four consecutive NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018 and could have won several more titles had Kevin Durant not signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016. James eventually signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2018-19 season.
James could have reduced the Cavs to nothing in 2010, but he came back and built an empire in the four years he was back in Cleveland. The Cavaliers were once again the center of the basketball universe.

COMPARED TO: LeBron James’ former teammate scared Cleveland in LeBron’s first period with the CavsThe Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the most stable teams in the NBA this season. Their core of LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving, has remained intact since James signed with the team in 2010. The team has never had a losing record since James and Love came together to form the core of what would become a championship team. Despite the Cavaliers’ success, it appears that their All-Star point guard has not been a positive influence on Irving and the team’s other young stars. James had a boisterous postseason on his way to winning the NBA Finals last year, and his team-mate has been caught on camera yelling at members of the media for questioning James’ abilities, and what is expected of him..
