Luka Doncic Just Discovered His NBA Cheat Code With the Dallas Mavericks

After nine seasons in the NBA, Luka Doncic has finally broken through and received recognition for his skills. With a reputation of being one the best players in Europe since he was 16 years old, he kept that promise with an impressive rookie season after impressing fans and teams alike.

The “where is luka doncic from” is a question that many NBA fans have been asking for years. The Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic just discovered his cheat code with the team, and now he’s one of the most talked about players in the league.

Luka Doncic is off to one of the most impressive starts in NBA history. After being part in a stunning what-if draft-day transaction that traded him and Atlanta Hawks player Trae Young, he landed in the United States.

Doncic has been fantastic, but there are still certain things that need to be answered. Is he in good physical shape? Is he willing to enlist the help of his teammates? Is he capable of playing defense?

Many young NBA superstars must answer these questions. Some people find it out, while others don’t. That may spell the difference between a good career and one that leads to the Hall of Fame.

Luka seems to be starting to respond to their inquiries. The NBA should be on high alert if he continues to figure it all out.

Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks career has gotten off to an incredible start.

Doncic was named Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season. In his first four seasons, he was named to three All-Star teams and two All-NBA teams.

In his first season as a 19-year-old, he averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. Then, in his second season, he improved his scoring average to 28.8 points, which was good for sixth best in the league.

He was also in the top 20 in the NBA in rebounds, assists (both total and per game), field goals, free throws made and attempted, and PER, finishing third behind Giannis Antetokounmpo (that season’s MVP) and James Harden in his second season.

Luka finished eighth in PER last year after breaking into the top ten in scoring, assists, field goals made, and three-pointers made.

During two spectacular series versus the Los Angeles Clippers, he also averaged 33.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 1.2 steals in 38.2 minutes.

In last year’s seven-game duel with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, he averaged more than 35 points and 10 assists each game.

But it didn’t seem to be the end of it.

Luka is on his way to figuring out the ultimate NBA cheat code.

Doncic is just 23 years old and has already accomplished so much.

But keep your eyes peeled, NBA, because the questions that have held Luka back thus far are about to be addressed.

After going into this season overweight, the Slovenian stated to SI.com, “I know I have to do better.” Following a 28-point, six-rebound, and nine-assist effort, such remarks were made.

Doncic stated for the first time that he might be in better physical shape.

Luka has also started to trust his teammates and defer in some circumstances, according to Tim Cato of The Athletic, such as during a thrilling comeback victory against the Golden State Warriors.

Cato writes, “He took one dribble and then passed to Spencer Dinwiddie in the backcourt.” “And then his four teammates worked for the remainder of the play to generate what turned into an open corner 3-pointer: Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans running a pick-and-roll that recycled the ball to Jalen Brunson, who assisted Dorian Finney-Smith on a shot that narrowed the lead to one point.”

The Mavs have the second-best defense in the league and rank 25th in terms of scoring. Neither of these numbers would be anticipated from a Doncic-led team. Luka will never be the captain of a top defense, but he has shown a desire to learn and grow in that area.

Are you in better shape? Check. On offense, are you starting to play off the ball? Check. A better defensive effort? Check. Luka is beginning to address his shortcomings (the few he does have).

The 23-year-potential old’s is limitless and unexplored.

As Doncic and the Mavericks, by proxy, play their greatest basketball of the season, these solutions are starting to come together.

Luka had a career-high 40 points per game in the last four games before the All-Star break. He scored 51 points only hours after Kristaps Porzingis was dealt to the Washington Wizards.

Doncic has averaged 29.2 points (sixth in the NBA), 10.2 rebounds (first among guards), and 9.2 assists since the start of the season (seventh in the league). His squad is 19-7 over that time, which is good for third best in the NBA.

Luka is just 23 years old. All of these changes will not occur overnight. But the fact that he’s working on his flaws while he’s already a top 5-10 player in the league is nothing short of cheating.

Basketball Reference provided all statistics.
