Players John McEnroe and Paul Annacone stepped onto the court at the US Open in 1986. McEnroe, a former world No 1, was making a comeback after a break from tennis. His opponent, Annacone, was a rising star in the tennis world. Despite a strong start from McEnroe, Annacone dominated the match, winning in straight sets. McEnroe, disheartened, questioned his future in the sport. Annacone, almost apologetic after his unexpected victory, went on to have a successful coaching career. McEnroe continued to play, but never reached the same heights as before, retiring from professional tennis after several more seasons. Both players left their mark on the game, with McEnroe earning a spot in the Hall of Fame and Annacone becoming known as a G.O.A.T. coach.
