Despite not having played in New York since 2022, the 38-year-old Nadal’s name appears on the US Open entry list released today.
In his last New York appearance, Nadal was defeated by Frances Tiafoe in the round of 16 with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Currently, Nadal is competing at the Nordea Open after his recent participation at Roland-Garros where he was eliminated by Alexander Zverev in the first round. Nadal’s Bastad campaign began on a positive note with a victory over Leo Borg, Bjorn Borg’s son, in a 6-3, 6-4 match.
Other players using their protected rankings to compete in the 2024 US Open include Denis Shapovalov, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Reilly Opelka.
