Nadal found the back-to-back wins in Sweden to be the most pleasing aspect of his recent performance. Two months prior, he had to disown himself, letting a set slip away in Barcelona to avoid risking injury on his 38-year-old body. Despite reaching the final in Bastad, he was not satisfied with his level of play, admitting that it did not match his performance in training.
My level of play was far from the one I produced in training.
Although he was happy with his physical fitness during the matches, Nadal noted that his game was not up to par. His serve, in particular, was a big negative point, with his first serve failing to win many free points.
THE SERVICE: A BIG NEGATIVE POINT SINCE HIS RETURN
Looking ahead to Paris and the Olympics, Nadal aims to find the right version of his game to compete well. He will also be playing in the men’s doubles event with Carlos Alcaraz, a partnership that is highly anticipated in the tennis world.
I know that if I play well in singles, I will also play well in doubles, but I will have to work hard.
Nadal, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, is preparing for his third Olympic Games and is hopeful for another incredible feat at Roland-Garros.
