Russian Mirra Andreeva advanced to the semi-finals of the Ningbo Open after No 4 seed Barbora Krejcikova retired due to lower back discomfort. Andreeva, ranked No 19, was leading 7-6 (5), 3-2 when Krejcikova, ranked No 13, had to withdraw.
The match lasted over 90 minutes with both players breaking each other thrice and exchanging rallies for 125 points, with Andreeva claiming 65 of them. Andreeva, a 17-year-old Russian, will face the winner of the match between Anna Kalinskaya and Karolina Muchova in the next round.
Prior to this victory, Mirra Andreeva defeated Varvara Lepchenko and Tamara Korpatsch. On the other hand, Barbora Krejcikova won her previous match against YeXin Ma.
