Linda Noskova, the 6th seed, emerged victorious in the Monterrey Open final at Sonoma Club on Sunday night, defeating New Zealander Lulu Sun with a score of 7-6 (6), 6-4.
Leading up to the final, No. 35 ranked Noskova had recorded wins against Kazakh qualifier Anna Danilina (6-0, 6-1), Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-4, 7-6 (11)), Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6-4, 6-4), and American Emma Navarro (7-6 (7), 7-5).
On the other hand, Sun, ranked No. 57, had defeated Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (7-6 (3), 6-3), Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (2)), Russian Erika Andreeva (6-4, 6-3), and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (6)) to reach the final.
