Rublev expressed his relief and happiness after defeating Jannik, acknowledging the significance of the win in light of his recent struggles.

In his own words, he shared, “I think I needed to win a match like this to feel like I can still have good results, so I’m happy.”

Admitting to fighting depression for years, Rublev highlighted the impact it had on his on-court performance, revealing, “On the court, I burned everything, so in the end, you could say that I was suffering.”

He continued, “For a few months now, I’ve been feeling better, and all of a sudden, I’ve noticed it, and I’m playing better tennis.”

After a period of inconsistency, Rublev regained his form, clinching the Madrid Masters title in May and defeating Carlos Alcaraz along the way.

Earlier in the year, a disqualification in Dubai affected his performance, but he is now focused on maintaining his composure for upcoming tournaments.

Looking ahead to the US Open, Rublev eyes a breakthrough in Grand Slam events, aiming to surpass the quarter-finals for the first time.
