Dutch player Arantxa Rus, seeded third, advanced to the final of the Hamburg European Open after defeating Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-3 on Friday.
Rus, currently ranked 101, will now face Hungarian Anna Bondar, the fourth seed.
Prior to her victory, the 33-year-old Dutch player defeated Suzan Lamens (6-1, 6-4), Croat Lea Boskovic (6-1, 6-1), and Russian Polina Kudermetova (6-2, 6-4).
Ruse, ranked 142, had victories over Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the fifth seed (6-3, 6-4), Serb qualifier Dejana Radanovic (7-5, 7-5), and German Tamara Korpatsch, the second seed (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
