Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova secured a victory against Russian Elina Avanesyan with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, advancing to the semi-finals of the Hungarian Open at Római Tennis Academy. Schmiedlova, ranked No 79, is set to face Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the next round. Prior to this win, she defeated Russian Kamilla Rakhimova and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo. Avanesyan, ranked No 75, also had a successful run in the tournament, overcoming Pole Magdalena Frech and Spaniard Rebeka Masarova.
