Top seed Italian Jannik Sinner secured a victory against No 31 seed Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, winning 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2 to move forward to the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Sunday evening.
Sinner, who is ranked No 1, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena and American Ben Shelton, the No 14 seed, in the next round.
In the previous round of the Shanghai tournament, the Italian defeated Japanese player Taro Daniel with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Etcheverry, who is ranked No 37, managed to defeat Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp with a score of 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-5 during the second round of the Shanghai tournament.
