I’m sure you’ve heard about the Korean professional basketball player, Si Woo Kim, and his amazing feat. I’m sure you’ve heard about how he’s super tall, 6’11’, and plays the center position for a Korean team. I’m sure you’ve heard that he can dunk. But have you heard about his 13 on a short par 3?
Last night in the US open, Si Woo Kim hit a 13 on a short par 3. It was a historic hole-in-one, and the record book will look at this one crazy shot as his first hole in one. But, he is not the only player to hit a hole-in-one on a short par 3. Here are the top 5 players to do the same:
It’s no surprise that Si Woo Kim is a long-time favorite of most golf fans, but this is a new level of intensity. Kim is one of the greatest players in the game, and while he is not afraid to play aggressively on some occasions, it is always a surprise when he does this. He has a reputation for being brilliant at the short “P” hole, so when he sunk a 13-footer on a wet, bumpy, par 3 today, it was shocking.. Read more about pga tour and let us know what you think.
For the casual golfer, PGA Tour tournaments may be exasperating to watch. Professional athletes make the seemingly impossible seem normal on a daily basis, leading the ordinary Joe watching from home to wonder, “Why can’t I ever achieve that?” ’
Even the greatest golfers in the world are sometimes humbled by this tenacious game.
At the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, Si Woo Kim, the 54th-ranked player in the OWGR, showed that professional golfers are exactly like us by making a record 13 on a short par 3.

Since 1983, this is the greatest score on a par 3 on the TOUR (non-majors) and the highest at TPCSouthwind.

Kim wasn’t playing for anything anymore as he plodded through his final round at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational this past weekend. As he went to the tee box of the par-3 11th hole, the South Korean golfer was 5-over par and more than 20 strokes behind the leaders.
The 11th hole at TPC Southwind was just 155 yards on Sunday, but the ocean around the island green presented a hazardous test for the 65 players in the field.
Kim, like so many other players on Sunday, hit his tee shot into the right-hand water, but things only went worse from there. Kim splashed four more approach shots in the water on the same side after going to the drop zone 96 yards from the hole. With his 11th shot, he eventually maintained his ball in play, and he went up and down from behind the green to finish at 10-over par 13.
Kim’s 13 was the highest par 3 score in non-majors since 1983, according to the PGA Tour. It was also the best score ever recorded at TPC Southwind in a PGA Tour tournament.

Kim couldn’t have been happy after a 13 on the golf course’s shortest hole, but he bounced back with a birdie on the par-4 12th hole. After a double bogey on the par-3 14th, he scored three consecutive birdies on the 15, 16, and 17th holes to finish off his final round in style.
Kim finished the event at 13-over par and in dead last position after shooting an 8-over 78 on Sunday.
But here’s the thing: Kim’s 78 wasn’t even the lowest score from Memphis’ last round. Kevin Kisner of the United States carded a 9-over 79, which included two double bogeys and a quadruple bogey.
On Sunday, TPC Southwind took no prisoners.

Kim’s 13 this past weekend was perhaps the most humiliating moment of his professional career, but it isn’t the highest PGA Tour score ever.
Tommy Armour, according to legend, shot ten balls out of bounds on the par-5 17th hole in the 1927 Shawnee Open, finishing with an 18-over 23. A perfect score of 23! Armour’s nightmare hole is still the only archaeopteryx (a hole with a score of 15 over par or worse) in Tour history.
Si Woo, cheer up. It could’ve gone a lot worse!
