Sinner overcomes slow start to win
Despite a challenging start against Paul at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Sinner proved himself as the favorite for the US Open 2024. Paul took an early lead by breaking Sinner twice, but Sinner fought back, ultimately winning the first set in a tiebreak.
Although the second set was close, Sinner managed to prevail in another tiebreak, securing a two-set lead over Paul.
In the final set, Sinner dominated the match, winning 6-1 and solidifying his place in the next round.
Looking ahead to his upcoming match against Daniil Medvedev, Sinner acknowledged the challenge but expressed confidence in his abilities.
Sinner will face Medvedev, who holds a 7-5 record against him, in their next match at the US Open. Reflecting on their previous encounters, Sinner mentioned, “Tough match. It’s going to be a lot of rallies. Hopefully I will be ready physically. It’s going to be physical match, mental match.”
