Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard advanced to the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors after defeating Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov in a tight match at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel. Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No. 50, will now face the No. 4 seed, Dane Holger Rune, in the next round.
Prior to this victory, the 21-year-old Frenchman had also won against Australian qualifier James Duckworth and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. Meanwhile, Shapovalov, ranked No. 95, had secured wins against Chinese Juncheng Shang and Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut earlier in the tournament.
Other quarter-final results from the Basel ATP 500 at St. Jakobshalle include Holger Rune defeating David Goffin, Ben Shelton beating Andrey Rublev, and Arthur Fils overcoming Stefanos Tsitsipas.
