Currently ranked 12th, Tsitsipas will be up against the winner of the match between Canadian player Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded 3rd, and Italian player Matteo Berrettini, seeded 6th, in the next round.
In the previous round of the Gstaad tournament, Tsitsipas won against Serbian player Hamad Medjedovic (7-6 (6), 6-3).
Fognini, currently ranked 80th, secured victories against French qualifier Titouan Droguet (6-4, 6-3) and Peruvian qualifier Juan Pablo Varillas (3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Gstaad tournament.
